Austin Van Wagner is a Herron School of arts photography graduate who studies distortion and challenges the reality of life. He is from Angola, Indiana and was born in 1997.  Before attending art school, austin was into sports and played basketball, baseball, and tennis. He always been interested in the arts but didn't really realize it till he first started college. ART SCHOOL WASN'T THE FIRST OPTION AND BEFORE ENROLLING INTO hERRON, AUSTIN WAS A MARKETING MAJOR IN THE KELLEY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS IN INDIANAPOLIS. tHIS WAS A CHOSEN CARRER PATH BECAUSE HE HAD A CLOTHING BUSINESS WITH A FEW CLOSE FRIENDS AND HONING IN ON BUSINESS SKILLS JUST MADE SENSE. CURRENTLY, AUSTIN IS RUNNING A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY BUSINESS TO WHICH HE TENDS TO CLIENTS WANTS AND NEEDS, AND HELPS TO BRING A MEMORABLE DAY A FOREVER MEMORY. 



aRTIST Statement 

“Ho Scale, A Distortion of Reality” is a collection of work that represents scale and the world in which we live. Scale is a prominent component in this body of work because I am challenging the size of the HO figures versus the objects they are paired with. I also am touching on the aspect of manipulation in a series of images. Manipulation is important within this series because in all my work I staged the design and layout to my interest and created something entirely to my liking. Manipulation is important to me because I want to make something that seems otherworldly and make the viewer start to question what they’re looking at. This series is a culmination of two ideas that mesh together and create an illusion. A distortion of reality brings the two components together to make something interesting, yet cultivating
